Transverse chromatic aberration (TCA) in the eye: which factors might determine its magnitude?
Yun Chen
We used two different psychophysical tests to measure the subjects’ TCA. The perceived difference in magnification of a red and a blue square on the computer monitor ranged from 0 to about 3% among different subjects. The low coherence interferometer Lenstar (Haag-Streit, Switzerland) was used to measure ocular dimensions.
Results
It was found that the thickness of the crystalline lens was correlated with TCA. It is well known that lens thickness is also increasing with age. It is clear that TCA increases with age, probably because of changes in the lens.
