Research Projects (current)
The Clark lab has an ever-evolving landscape of specific projects that focus on our Main Research Themes. Currently, these include:
- Elucidating the extracellular matrix (ECM) interaction properties of FHL-1 and the FHR proteins, and the consequences for complement activation on ECM
- Employing Artificial Intelligence in disease risk and progression analysis for AMD and diabetic retinopathy
- Investigating the mechanisms underlying AAV-mediated immunogenicity in patients receiving gene-therapies
- Understanding the influence of ECM re-modelling in destabilising RPE cell homeostasis and the effect on retinal resilience and longevity
- Investigating the role of Inter-Alpha-Inhibitor Heavy Chain 3 (ITIH3) in age-related macular degeneration
- A comprehensive molecular analysis and iPSC model of early adult-onset macular degeneration to better understand age-related macular degeneration.
- Development and utilisation of the Helmut Ecker Eye Tissue Resource (HEETR) to elucidate molecular pathology of AMD
- Investigating the Influence of Genetic Variation Associated with Age-Related Macular Degeneration on Plasma Levels of Complement Regulatory Proteins
